If you’ve just bought them how do you know already it’s the best tyre you’ve ever bought

It just is from my experience on 2 GTIs I owned. I had BS pirellis and some other brands and from them this one is best overall.

And by just It doesn't mean yesterday. Already done 3000 miles and I know its best from all tyres mentioned above on golf for ME.

Never owned PS4 S so cant say too much about that.

I changed my Bridgestones at the same time I change any set of tires on any of my my cars.  Never let them go down to 1.6 and just change them when the wet performance starts to suffer...  co-incidentally though I think that it was around 4mm on my original Bridgestones.  For me it depends on time of year.  Summer I will run them a little longer as it will be mostly dry and good temperatures and lack of standing water in general... winter, if I get a sense of skittishness at all in the rain I will just change them.

Might be different this time as I am trying to time it to change 4 tyres at the same time in order to get 235 width tyres on to go with the wider wheels.  I prefer sidewall to the stretched tyre look but my tyres had a lot of tread when I bought the wider BBS and the 225s were the width most sellers packaged them with.  Will see if I can rotate them for even wear so I don't have to get rid of rears with loads of tread.

On my 3 series I used to change the rears at about 6mm.  There was a roundabout on the way to work that with the camber and rain caught a lot of people out even at low speeds.  I knew to take it carefully so when the traction control light came on there was when I changed my tyres.

6mm??? I thought road tyres came out of the mold with around 8mm. What did you do with your hardly worn tyres? Or was the tyre shop man rubbing his hands at the thought of a set of free tyres to sell on?
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

You have made me think there and consult a tape measure, I probably wasn't quite to that extreme in hindsight but they never got anywhere near the depth markers that's for sure.  At the time I had the BMW I was doing low mileage so changing the tyres wasn't a big deal.  Had it 4 years and changed the rears twice...  annoyingly the second time was due to a puncture a few weeks before I sold it.  Couldn't run the car with uneven tread on the back so put 2 on...  So yeah, the local tyre shop probably did love me.

Have had both PS4s and Eagles on the Golf since the Bridgestones and run them a lot nearer to the markers.
