Can Heated Seats Be Retrofitted ?
« on: 08 April 2016, 12:28 »
Hi folks,

I recently purchased a set of leather heated seats from out of a MK6 R. Can anyone tell me whether I the heated seats can be retrofitted to a Non GTI that never had them originally fitted? If so, what parts will be required?

Your help would be much appreciated folks.

Thanks

Essentially it's just some wiring and switches. Auto electrician would be able to do it no problem.

There is a byte in CCEM, cant remember which one. Basically you'd have get VCDS and scan module 9 to see if the module supported heated seat function. Then as JV says some wiring etc. Hope that helps.

So my best bet is buying the switches from a Volkswagen Dealership and contact an Auto Electrician and explain what I'm looking to do?

Sorry, slightly more that a bit of wiring as happy says :)

You could do with a friendly VW specialist, they could sort the lot. Where are you based?

Probably your shopping list would be right/left heated seat switches, loom, and certainly you'd have to check that CCEM to see if the software supported heated seats. If not it may be a dealer upgrade of here said software or a new module. New module £250 you can sometimes get one from ebay.

Just checked if you get someone to scan your car its byte 22 in module 9. I would think if it's going to support heated seats it will be there.
