My 2006 Mk5 Golf GTI has always been poor at low revs and mentioned this to mechanic. He said that VWs were prone to problems with engine sensor failing and/or thermostat.
So, he suggested I monitor the "Engine Coolant temperature" when driving. I did this using Torque and gadget plugged into diagnostic socket. On normal driving, it was consistently around 65-68deg C. He reckons it ought to be higher - more like 90-100.
Is he right and are my figures too low, indicating something is not right?
