Door Alingment - Hinges?

Morning Guys,

Was driving on the motorway before and someone flashes me and tells me to wind my window down and says theres something falling off the back of your car, so stupidly I pulled over on the hard shoulder to check it wasn't anything important ( or something that could fall off and do some serious damage ), anyways, as I've gone to open my door the tailwind of a lorry has taken it with it and it flew out of my hands.

Checked to see what this lad was on about, and it looked like a rubber exhaust mount but anyway, got back in the car to inspect it properly at home, and when I drove off it sounded like my window was cracked open ever so slightly, the window wasn't open and on further inspection there's a little gap in the top of my door ( so that's obviously where the noise is coming from), and when I try and open it or shut it, the alignment is way out.

Think I've done some serious damage ?!

This isn't the best picture, the gap is actually a little bigger than the picture shows, and opening and shutting the doors is more difficult than normal now . . . .

If the door has been forced open too far, it's either bent a hinge or worse still, the A pillar where the hinge bolts on.

To bring the door in where it is gapping, you can adjust the striker loop on the B pillar by loosening the torx bolts, moving it further in then re-tightening. This will help with the wind noise and water ingress, but will probably need a good shove to close the door due to whatever has got twisted.

Hindsight I know, and this was not the case here, but I'd never stop if I was waved down. Even on a motorway, it's all too easy for someone to jump in your car, rev up and feck off.

I'll have to have a look, whats the worst case, the pillar? How much do we think to sort this?

I know, I'd taken the keys with me as I always do ( Afraid of the car locking me out ).

Apparently this is only a £60 job, they've not said what the fault is though.... what we thinking it is?

Just ask them?  I'd want to know before committing to letting them loose on the car
