the breaks when applied sometimes (not always) you have to press little down with nothing happening then all of a sudden like a quite sharpish slip and a rather sudden break point rather than smooth and gradual.. very hard to explain.... its as if it doesnt do anything then all of a sudden breaks. not smooth as normal...

It doesn't seem to be happening every journey but has been happening more regularly. and doesn't seem to be when the breaks are warm or anything

car is a mk6 gti with 37k on the clock. no track driving just usual.

any ideas people?

What's the condition of your discs and pads? mine was sticking and the man at the garage said i wasn't using them hard enough.

I would quickly take your break pads out and give the pad channels (where the pads move bad and forth) a quick clean, Loads of break dust builds up there and can cause a jarry movement.

I did my last weekend and stop some break squeal i was having, only take about 15 mins per corner,

Breaks, as in a trip weekend away, or brakes, as in used to stop the car?
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

sticking is usually a scratch on your vinyl (it makes the stylus hop).
