Idle problem resolved :-) but need advice.

Well after fitting the new air filter and seeing a slight improvement but not getting rid of the bouncy idle , I have been checking the pipes and found this. As soon as I moved it the engine nearly stalled, my question is, is it ok to cut the pipe back and re-

so long as you shortening the pipe isnt going to cause any really tight bends that are going to kink or any strech in the pipe it should be fine

(assuming that its just a push on pipe and that it hasent got any special fittings at the end? or if it has can the fittings be re-attached? cant see the pic very well on my work comp. assuming its a vac hose or simelar to do with turbo pvc system?)

Does anyone what this pipe is called ? It's split in a number of places so will have to replace the lot. It's runs from the inlet then under the maf and into a valve and then on into the bulk head.

The vac hose for the brakes, it runs to the brake servo. The car will run sh!t if its broke as its a air leak in the inlet mainifold. How the hell did you brake it

thinking about it, mine joined with a rubber pipe over a length of the hard plastic with jubaley clips each side , by the brake servo. Cut the splits out and find a rubber pipe thats a tight fit over the hard plastic pipe and jubaley clips each side. Or get one from a scrap yard or go to vw with the pipe.

Yeah I have had a idling problem for about a month, vagcom brought up maf signal to low and coolant temp sensor.

Both were changed and then scanned again but the maf signal to low still came up and still had the idle problem so started checking for an air leak and found this. It's split either side of the little valve so might have to cut the pipe back on both sides and then get some rubber piping to go over the plastic pipe and refit. Hopefully once it's done it will sort the idling problem out :-)

Yep this will probably be the cause of your rough idle. Basically unmetered air is getting in so you'll be running lean. Also your brakes won't be as good as they should be

This happened to me but with some bloke test driving the car. And mine just came apart completely lol easy fix though
