gearbox oil vr6
« on: 08 January 2014, 20:55 »
Evening all.

What oil do i need to use in my vr6 gearbox?  I got some castrol multi application the other day but it feels a bit knotchy when changing threw the gears, im thinking the oils not viscus enough...

Any thoughts?

synthetic 75w90 - ideally one that is for gearboxes and diffs (lasts better)...
I used Total Syn Fe 75w90 in the past and was pleasantly surprised of how much it helped my old mk3 gearbox :)

Ok! So after doing a bit more reading and research I found a very helpful thread on the vr6oc forum!

They are suggesting Redline mt-90, gonna give it a go and see what's what!

MT90 is a synthetic 75w90, from data sheet looks marginally better than the Total Syn FE 75w90.

TBH you probably won't notice a huge difference between the two of them (or other synth. 75w90's), either will make it much better than with the 15-20 year old gunk that in there now.
