Engine codes ?

Right I have recently bought mk4 gti 1.8 turbo , now in the book it says the engine code is ARZ  but on the block it says AUM, so either had new head or complete engine, but is there any difference as I was to buy some bits for it but don't know what engine code to match to, can anybody help me on this , will be much appreciated ??

they are exactly the same

aum has vvt and ko3s, arz has neither

doesnt mean that it has a ko3s fitted and will the older wiring loom have a plug for the vvt?? what i meant was the block is the same

have a look at the sticker i believe its in the boot or the door, cant remember which, see what code it says on there, then have a look at engine number and see if it matches the vin number (i believe the whole vin isnt put on the engine just part of it?) that will tell you if you have the original engine or not.
