Can you please give me a clue on how to remove a MFD2 satnav/radio from the Golf Mk5 dash.

Do not use a screwdriver if you want your dash to stay intact. Get a set of blue bojo tools like this...they do them in different sets and ebay and amazon are pretty much same prices.

When you take the top grille off and then come to remove the inner part, make sure you get all the screws.
The most used tool is the big wide thin blade. Be warned when removing the lower part of the surround around the heater/a/c controls as the clips here are prone to snapping.
