« on: 07 April 2013, 21:26 »
Hey all after a bit of info.. Got a mk5 gt tdi 140 and it has the erratic lumpy idle but also when it is up to temp and you turn engine off after about 5 mins it really struggles to start it does start but takes a while.. An sure I read on here a while ago someone say it may be can position sensor.. Was wondering if anyone has had any if the same issues??

Any info greatly appreciated

Cheers Craig

sounds more like a coolant temp sensor issue, or weak battery. to be honest there are quite a few things that could cause what you're describing, needs some diagnostic investigation!

hard to say without getting my hands on it! you possibly have two unrelated issues. the hot starting problem can actually be mapped out of the ecu in most cases, although 99% of the time i find a hardware fault causing the problem. Lumpy tickover can be down to torsion value (cam timing) out of spec or faulty injector seals/bolts, but again there are plenty of other things that can cause it too.

ahh right, well other than that it does drive fine so maybe have to get it looked at properly at some point, cheers for the advice though
