Also, don't buy cheap crank sensors, they're sh!t! I bought a cheapo from ECP and it lasted all of 3 days....Get an OE quality one from a decent manufacturer or VW.

With electrical components I try and find out who manufactures the part for VW, once you've found the make/brand have a scout for a suitable component. I've just come back into the VW fold from BMW's and found there that crank sensors were a favourite to fail, and anything other than and O.E part was usually a waste of money. In the case of sensors I believe its a case of buy cheap, you'll end up buying twice.
