radio code

Not had my golf for long, But need to disconect the battery. Now with in all the books i have there is no code for radio, How do i get it phoned the garage and they are about useful as a zombie on crack. Do i need to go to a vw dealer if so what do i take ie v5 etc. Thanks

On the Mk4 it should be ok as its also stored in ECU so no entering of code if only disconnecting battery, if you do need it though you can either contact your local VW dealer or phone VW Customer Services both should supply it free.

How would I go about retrieving the code from a second hand unit (where the code is unknown)?

Is it a trip to the dealers job? :huh:

Called a couple dealers until one knew what the feck to do!! :rolleyes: Gave them the part number and serial numbers from the unit, and they called me a couple days later with the code, free of charge :cool:
