if i run mine on normal 95, my car pinks going uphill. So i stick with super & it feels different (power wise)

You've probably got the extra miles from the air temperature decrease.

Shell v maxx super unleaded will give you 3/5bhp over a basic supermarket normal unleaded.

Is it worth the extra pennies on a daily? no not at all.

Does it make your engine run better? No again.

Its a way of getting more money out of us punters

Generally i run mine on standard unleaded due to being a tight b@stard but every few tank fulls i like to stick some Tesco momentum (99 ron) in and it definitely runs smoother and quieter. If i don't do this i start to get the occasional pinking under load due to the advanced timing set up that came with the ECU chip I run.

Have only ever used 95 RON and no problems for nearly 9 years and 50,000 miles.
Think that says it all.

Cars use slightly more fuel in the winter.

Cold air = more oxygen = more fuel needed to compensate.

Makes the car quicker too.
