Anyway it would be a downgrade

+1. R26 = track day, GTI = for the other 99% of ownership.
Current: GTI Edition 35 Candy White 5dr DSG 19" Glendale, RCD510+DAB, Dynaudio, Storage Pack, Parking Sensors

Gone: Edition 35, GTI Mk6, Edition 30, GTI Mk4, GTI Mk3, GTI Mk2 and my favourite the UR quattro
For those that dont know DSG is an electronically controlled dual-clutch multiple-shaft manual gearbox

If you don't need back seats it beats the GTI in every respect

It actually rides better than a gti cos of the light weight allowing softer suspension.

The reason I want one is I use y car as a toy and want each drive to be special. The GTI is an eery day car and very good in all aspects but I can't remember on true stand out moment in this car.

My 182 and 197 both felt like they were my partner in crime - a real characterful car. The GTI is just transport and something I like to clean and rarely drive.

I don't use my gti as intended as a family and toy car so im bored with it. The wife can have it - it's got 5 doors and free servicing and excellent child/rear passenger safety so a fine family car but for what I want I chose the wrong car.

I love the way Renault are the only company who would make this car. No other manufacturer would have the balls.

Upgrade in what way?

If its for the track, the Renault is the car for sure.

If its for class, quality, normal day-to-day use, then not a chance...
