Can't see the point, a turbo for each two cylinders doesn't seem worthwhile, especially, when displacement would drop and so will engine pulses, plus a complex manifold followed by tight space. I did read about a scroller setup someone did in the USA, even then the results weren't any better than just a single big turbo setup.

can someone just explain this to me... how would displacement drop? and engine pulses?

4 Cylinders, each time the exhaust valves open on that cylinder it sends the exhaust gases flying through at a higher speed, this is a pulse, imagine in a 4stroke the pulses are 180degrees apart. So 4 pulses every two rotations. These exhaust gases are what drive the turbo. Now imagine only two cylinders doing this. Even less gases pushing the turbine (imagine a pushbike where you was using bot feet to peddle, but now the person is using just one foot to peddle instead of two to drive the wheels).

Now you have an engine with 1800cc displacement pushing one turbo, if you have two turbo's in a parallel setup like you see in v6TT/v8TT engines you now end up with a setup where you have two turbo's for 900cc each, and you only have 900cc of displacement pushing each turbo at a less frequent rate in layman's terms.

Thats the theory, correct me if I'm wrong.

sorry yes makes sence to me now. at first i thought you ment the actual displacement of the engine would be smaller, thats what was confusing me was thinking nor would still be a 1800cc

and engine pulses wise yes i get you now.

Complicated, but the torque they produce early on

Think the Supra uses sequential?

Now that is complicated lol

Yup sequential

Hard to say whether sequential will ever take off... It's complicated and costly. Bigger engines with v6/v8+ will favor parallel setup. Then VAG are hooked on a similar idea, except it uses a supercharger and turbo, which you see in the current engines. Then more development is going slowly into electric cars

Had a chat about the 2.3 supercharged merc c class... Their is an off ge shelf manifold fpr a garett turbo... Which allows for the chrger to stay in place. Thoery is the turbo outlet goes into the charger inlet.

Now the charger is driven off the engine, so does that means it would rev as fast as it boosts?
Be crazy if it did.

Anyway. S4 b5 for the win. Well Rs4 b5 for the epic win

Similar to a sequential, but bottlenecking as the supercharger is engaged continuously, which is acting restrictive in airflow as it maxes out and two its sapping power from engine. Ideally you want the supercharger to disconnect fully from the system in pipework and off the engine (via clutch, unless its an electric supercharger), which is what happens in the VAG engines and the air is then diverted/bypassing the supercharger completely and directly to the turbo until the charger is needed again.
