I got 36mpg doing that in a Mk4 R32 once. It was like Clarkson driving that A8 to Scotland and back.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

I get about 47 on motorways sometimes more!!driving a bit slower than the 70mph but that's the rush hour m25 in a mapped agu. If lucky enough to do 70 I get anywhere 35-43

Wooton Warren (near Henley in Arden) to Hedge End on a careful run got me 50.8 mpg in my Mk3 GTI.

Over a 2,000 mile average I am still just over 40 mpg. A daily driver that also gets a 7 mile crawl to work and back (15 mph average).

The 16V boys might have more power but the little 8V is paying for itself... And my Mum's 306 D-Turbo probably wouldn't do much better.

I will stay on the light side thanks.
