Handbrake help!
« on: 04 June 2005, 17:43 »
Need some help with the handbrake!

Inside the car the two cables attaching to the handbrake, the passenger side cable has lots of slack compared to the drivers side cable! Even when i turn the nut all the way down there is still slack!

Can this only be adjust from inside, or is there an adjustment on the brake itself?

is the handbreak cable still attached to the caliper?

Use some bolts as spacers and tighten the end nut up maybe
:)

Yep, the end is attached to the caliper!

The problem from what I can see is that it does not spring back fully on the caliper, If i push it up by hand, the slack is taken up and it's fine, pull the handbrake up and doen and it's seem to get stuck.  Not sure what this is or how to cure it??

i had that problem with mine a few days ago. changed the handbreak cable as it was 'sticking' inside itself.
cheap and piss easy to change. dont even need a car jack.

I'll pop down gsf tomorrow, may aswell change them both :) cheers

The arm that get pulled down by the cable seems to not spring back up as it should though, can this arm just be removed and greased up?
