Hi, I really need some help!!! I have just bought a golf GT Tdi with a problem, It has a VERY loud flapping / rotational banging noise when the clutch is pressed and the revs picked up to 1500-2000 rpm. I thought it was the DMF so removed the box and checked the DMF which is knackered so I replaced with a nice new Sachs one (same as the original one) and put back together with new clutch and release bearing - and the noise is still there and no different! I get underneath it and listened whilst a frend got the noise to happen and it sounds as though ts in the bellhousing!! But everything is new and no noticeable play in gearbox primary shaft - Its doing my head in!!!! Any help would be much appreciated - many thanks

Sounds like you should invest in a second hand gear box - even if it's not you'll get your money back

what about when the pedal is released, does it still make the sound? get it running, get someone to press the pedal and get ur noggin' under the bonnet and see if you can see anything.
though just coz it sounds like its coming from an area doesnt mean its there, noises can travel. take a look at the other end of the engine too
i think i love you.....
