Rear heated window
« on: 29 January 2012, 13:33 »
Right guys help please

My rear heated window stoped working a few months back and ive only just got round to trying to sort it out.

I no ever one says check the wires in the boot which i have just done the only break was on the passanger side in a thick white wire which i have just joined back together and it has made no difference.

The rear heated window button does light up red when i switch the head lights on but if you press the button it does not go orange, I have checked the fuse and its on that also took the button out and tried pluging it back in still made no difference

Do all signs now point to the switch on the dash its self ?

Change the fuse any way  Is there power to the rear window when the switch is on?

its jus a switch test it with a multi meter on ohms.. take the switch back out wen off remove wires should be o.l reading .. wen on should have continuity reading i.e about an ohm plus ure probe reading... if its still o.l wen on the switch is broke! or if u like test voltage in with with wires on.. go from a ground one side should have voltage.. otherside not.. turn switch on should be voltage on both terminals.if either or both of those checks are ok switch is sound.

Hi

I had the same problem on my Mk4 GTI and it was  the large brown wire on the drivers side.
