sound deadening sheets or spray?
« on: 16 May 2005, 10:19 »
i am thinking of buying/installing some sound deadening material/spray for my rattling mk3. question is do i have to cover as much as possible in the doors + bootlid (hatch) or do i just place these ready cut squares in the middle of the doors. I know you can get the spray, would this be a better option or is that too much hassle (if you have to mask everyting up)
any info appreciated.

the spray is a waste of time just cover as much of the panel as possible, remember you are just adding mass to the panel so you don't need to cover every square inch,......boot lid and boot floor and front doors are the most important to do imo get a bulk pack of R-BLOCK from www.audio-one.co.uk (very similar to extreme but cheaper so able to buy more for same cost)

www.dynamat.uk.com for the best prices around. FREE delivery too!
If you want a lot of bits email them and they'll sort you out a deal.
I use Extreme in my car and the results are awesome.
Remember to clean the panel first else it won't stick.

I'm with MikeTDI - roofing felt is just as good if you use a good contact adhesive.

Dynamat is o.k. but really expensive for what it is.
