New Stereo....Aerial adapter problem?
« on: 12 January 2012, 19:50 »
Hi, so i couldn't get a security fascia for my old stereo so i opted for a new one. I have the auto-leads adapters for the wiring and aerial but where do i plug the blue wire which is attached to the aerial that is supposedly a 'phantom power supply'? I have read this guide http://uk-mkivs.net/forums/t/177496.aspx but still confused.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks.

Connect it to the remote lead on the headunit.

Connect it to the remote lead on the headunit.

Remote lead? What is a remote lead? I've been told by a friend that it need to go to a switched live to power the booster in the base of the aerial? Am i being totally dull?

On an aftermarket headunit there is a remote lead used for send a single to an amp to switch it on.  On a standard headunit you will need to connect the lead from the aerial to a switched live as mentioned by your friend.
