car stalling/cutting out
« on: 16 January 2012, 19:48 »
the revs drop and the car cuts out, usually when i'm coming to a junction. also tries to stall when i pull off, sometimes miss fires.

also experiencing "bouncy idle" as explained in this post - http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=218741.0
i've taken the tb off and cleaned it, but no change. i've had a new maf just under a year ago from vw.
It's an agu if that helps. i've scanned for fault codes.

i've also noticed that since winter has arrived, it's gotten worse. the car is shocking in the morning. most of the problems above fade away as the car is warmed up and driven a fair bit. something tells me i need to replace the ignition amp. any help? thanks.

Do they come back if you clear them?

Check the pcv pipe in middle of inlet for any splits.

Whats it like with the MAF unplugged?

WHen was the last time plugs were changed?

is that the breather pipe? had a huge split in it and replaced with a silicone :)
when maf is unplugged, there's no boost, car is extremely flat!
had new super 4's a few months ago.

if it was the ignition amp ,it will run like a bag of sh!t. It dont give you a fault code. Have you removed the amp from airbox / got a induction kit and relocated the amp ?

got standard air box on.
not sure how you define run like sh!t, but mine does run like sh!t, only thing is, it's not constant. when the car's idling, it will misfire for about 10 seconds, then go back to normal :undecided:
