alternator/battery hassle
« on: 18 December 2011, 06:58 »
merry christmas all, fitted new alternator yesterday and my car still cuts out, the two batteries i have are pretty flat it must be said, i thought the alternator would charge it/them back up but no, suspect i might have a short/break in the system? anyone else had similar experiences or tips?

Probably cooked as your alternator was overcharging as the regulator had gone or because the battery was dead as a dodo

what happened was that the last owner decided not to replace the fuse box on the battery and put a temp chunky fuse on the alternator connection instead, all the connections were loose! next problem i have is cutting out when the revs drop, i think maf sensor as its more electronic/twitchy idle + when i changed my air filter for a k+n i did not secure it in place, and its had a beating against the chassis!
