What other parts are required on this service please?. Any plugs fuel filter etc?.

Link to VW servicing -

major service (every 2 years or every 20k miles) has air filter, fuel filter, plugs, pollen filter, diagnostic check and coolant top up above minor service for an extra £120

worth checking the history to make sure it has not already been done …I had my belt, pump, dsg done at 40k as recommend by my local VW dealer

then again they may have just been short of work that month

i highly doubt vw will match the prices from awsome, might be worth asking, they can only say no.

I ended up getting VW to do the big service and cambelt/ pump at just short of £650   now noticed the rev light switch isn't working - great service.......

That seems a lot for a major service.   Get it straight back in and kick up a stink about the rev light switch.

Major service - £249, cambelt + pump - £399, this is the VW fixed price servicing for cars over 3 years old
I'll be calling in tommorow to see about the switch, they'll probably say it was working fine when they had it in

How does the switch come out? i disconnected the wiring but it leaves a green plastic part still attached, does it pull out?

My bad, I was under the impression the cambelt + pump was usually available at £299, at least thats what I paid when I got mine done.

Not sure about the switch but I would put things back how they left them and then put the ball firmly in their court to fix it.  They should do it if you kick up, especially as you have just spent £650.00 with them.
