Lambda Issue
« on: 07 September 2011, 20:07 »
Hi folks,

Decided to run vagcom on the golf tonight as I noticed it has been rather thirsty recently. I will admit the exhaust system from manifold to backbox is in pretty poor condition and is being replaced asap.

VAGCOM picked up -

v00537 - Lambda (Oxygen Sensor) Regulation
            18-10 - Upper Limit - Intermittent

I noticed the other night after giving the car a good roasting an eggy smell and made me think the cat is on the way out, but the smell has never came back.

Other dranking a bit too much fuel and blowing underneath the driver seat, the car is running fine, no idle or running problems.

Am I correct i n saying the poor condition of th exhuast system is probaly throwing the lambda off.

Thanks

Also, it picked up the

00513 - Engine Speed Sensor (G28)
            16-10 - Signal Outside Specifications - Intermittent

I think this is the crank sensor?? If so, it was replaced recently, and I have no issues with the engine starting up or rev counters going mad. I am thinking it could be an old code before the crank was changed and should just clear the code
