cheers mate, so what is the whole 7j et blah blah blah all about??? i never have really understood those numbers and letters that you see stamped on the alloy
Obviously you have the diameter of the wheel which is measured in inches. You also have the width of the rim which is what you refer to as 7J, this basically means the rim is 7" wide, 8J is 8" etc.
Then you have the offset which will be stamped into the wheel, on a mk3 it will typically be ET30 - ET45 (standard wheels are ET43). This basically determines how far in/out of the arch the wheel sits. As you
lower the offset the wheel will stick further out, whereas if you increase the offset the wheel will sit further in the arch.
For example, if you are running standard ET43 wheels and fit 20mm spacers the offset will be reduced to ET23 and the wheel will sit 20mm further out than before you fitted the spacers.
