MK4 MFD Question
« on: 11 July 2011, 12:03 »
I am thinking about upgrading my GAMMA unit to the MFD1 unit optionally available on the Golf MK4's.  The question I have is regarding IPOD/USB connectivity, does it have the ability?

If not, is there a OEM VW part you can buy to convert the unit to USB/IPOD friendly?

Cheers

Indi.

yeah, there are at least a couple of good options. The MFD has a 10-pin mini DIN socket on the back which is an Aux-in socket. You can hook up a £5 cable with a couple of RCAs on the end or an iPod dock connector (like the Belkin car kit) and get access to the MFD. The other option, and the one I'm currently using is the Xcar-link adapter for about £70. This is brilliant and I recommend it for flexibility. It'll allow you to daisy chain your CD player off it and will keep your ipod powered. Sound quality is very good.
