Further feedback on solid mounts, for anyone searching...
Just fitted one last night as an experiment to see if it removed a clunking noise. The noise started following the fitting of a 4 branch manifold (ashley), and only occurs briefely when pulling away in 1st gear.
Anyway, the noise is still there, but perhaps a little lighter. However, a further knocking/vibration occurs at just over 3k rpm in 3rd gear when accelerating hard.
Car is a digi 8v with a 266 deg camshaft, and ashley manifold. Vibratechnics gearbox mount, and G60 rear engine mount. Previously had a standard rubber front mount fitted. Fully pollybushed.
There is no noticable increase in vibration when driving, apart from the above mentioned in 3rd gear. Not found it anywhere else, but ive not driven it far yet. On idle when warm the difference is small, but on start up from cold there is a fair bit of extra vibration. Thanks to a broken clip on my grille, this was buzzing loudly on cold start, but eased a lot once warm.
Movement of the engine is reduced a lot, it all feels very stable and smooth.
Dont know if its staying on yet, need to find the source of this noise. The manifold looks like its touching a cover over the off side drive shaft, and its very close to the steering rack, so i'll need to investigate further to find whats making the noise
