mk3 Speaker connection help ?
« on: 11 June 2011, 16:18 »
Hi,

I want to replace the speakers thougout and have noticed that the tweeters and rear door componants have double connections on and I want to keep this sort of setup. but do the tweeters have some sort of filter in them that then sends the other signal to the door speakers and the same with the rear?

If they do how do I replace them as aftermarkets don't seem to have the double connections on. I'm aware I can just cut the plugs and connect the wires togther but will this send the wrong signals to the wrong speakers?

Also I was thinking later on I may want some more bass but I don't want to have a sub due to the kids and boot being filled with kids stuff so no room for a sub, so would 6x9's be any good or what do you recommened.

Sorry Not so good on car audio any help would be great :) cheers people

If you are getting decent aftermarket speakers you will get whats called a crossover unit which takes the signal from the H/U amp and splits it to the tweets and mids.

Yes there is room for a sub and amp, which takes minimal room.
The sub goes on the nearside around the wheelarch and the amp can sit over the opposite wheelarch.
Well thats what I have done!
