Phil1980 do you fancy naming and shaming the dealer if it turns out they were pulling a fast one?
I live in the Norfolk and im keen to avoid any rip off garages

Just an update on this for everyone, I took my car to a vw specialist who had a look at the cv gaiter, he could not find a split in it anywhere.  He repacked it with grease and put new bandings on to keep it in place.  Charged me £50.00 which I was more than happy with considering the dealer wanted me to fork out for a new driveshaft  , he said that if it had needed a new gaiter he could still have done the repair using the special tool to stretch the gaiter over the joint.  Will be taking my car to him in future, also I will be writing to the dealer asking them what the f**k they think they are playing at.  Avoid the main VW dealer in the Norwich area like the plague.

Avoid all main dealers unless your still under warranty imo. They are just rip off merchants.

Just needed an oil and filter change for my last service, main dealer quoted £300. Needless to say I told them to stick it. Took my car to my friendly local garage and they charged me £150. Nuff said!

Jesus, thats pricey aswell!!

Longlife oil is about £50 ish + filter £15 odd. Is that 2 hours labour for just an oil change?

Are you sure that isn't a full service PLUS oil & filter change for £300? sounds very expensive.
