Fit yourself a toad alarm and immobiliser, and keep nothing in the car. If someone breaks in then fit the stupid horrible things to cover up the damage. What if you fit them and someone prises in above it- your door is wrecked

My drivers door had armour plate, plus an OE handle. Thieves tried that first, to be fair they damaged the handle but it didnt snap. Door was fine, barely a mark.

Then they tried the passenger side with NO armour plate, and a pattern handle. Barrel snapped in 2. Handle snapped in 2. Door slightly more damaged than drivers, but not much. They gained entry on this side.

I reckon the armour plate saved the drivers door from more damage.

Oh and my TOAD alarm/immob sounded as the passenger door opened, and scared them off, so worth buying :afro:

I don't think a semi will give the same results

This is spot on, I have repaired doors in the past, that only have minor damage to the skins, and easily fixed, safety plates look crap, and don't work, your door will be scrap after a forced entry!

Damaged doors or not, without armour plates you stand more chance of your car being stolen

It depends which you value more, a damaged door or an entire car

No, that's why I said alarm and immobiliser. How does an armour door plate stop the window getting smashed? If someone wants to get in, they will, so remove as much chance as possible by leaving nothing inviting on show, and alarm + immob. They'll have to tow/crane my car away- and hopefully the alarm wouldve notified someone by then
