Any chance you could post some pics so we all can see, its hard to give advise on a car you cant see,. Whats the body work like? if

its been stood up for a long time there might be rot, why has it been unused for this period,. 28,000 miles though Christ that is low

does the mileage on the m.o.t's match up with the mileage on the clocks. Just ask loads of questions and it maybe an idea to try

and get the car on a ramp so you can have a good look under her.

Keep checking this post dude as the people on this site are just a minefield of information

nice 1. erm the chap who is sellin it owns a garage he is an electritian/ mechanic. he is geniune but tight fisted so doubt i can knock him down!, he bought it of a customer who never used it. think he was old. it was dry stored for that long NO RUST i believe. i will try and get pics in the week but havent seen it yet. all documents match completely will have a hpi check done. i work on bull dozers so i know a bit about what can happen like in 6 years on being stood will the seals on these golf engines be hardened or will they be ok i.e crank seal, valve guide seals etc? cheers

the state of the the seals and engine in general will depend alot on if the car has been started in the six years, thats along time,. If

it has been dry stored then you might get away with new oil, filters ad a bloody good service. Whats the condition of the hood

mate cause those things can be expensive to replace. One thing i can tell you mate is that there wont be many mk1's going around

with 28,000 miles on the clock.

I'm not sure about price but the guys on this site will soon let you know. If the car is in the condition you say it is i for one would

be happy to pay £3,000 for those sort of miles

Here's a guide from the mk1 section about what to look out for -----> http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=18122.0 If it's a late cabby and it's got 28k on the clock and a decent spec then it's worth 3k any day of the week, but try and knock him down, he can only say no.  I think it sounds like an all white edition that they brought out.  :undecided:
......now officially dubless.
