thanks for help, everyone...

does anyone have any tips for replacing the belt? Couldn't find any useful advice in the haynes...

Anything i should watch out for etc... not worth breaking anything over this noise.

Thanks

Alex

just changing belt??

how i do mine is, remove the ribbed v belt. easiest way i found was undo the small pulley held on by 3 allan bolts and it will come off.

then on the alternator slacken off the top and bottom bolt so you can push down on the alternator and it moves. this will slacken off the belt. slip old one off new one on.

when doing alternator up, pull up on bottom of it and do the bolts up then belt should be tensioned.

then just put the other pulley back on and the ribbed belt!!!

this is how i do mine. there is prob a more "profesional way" of doing it but i like this!! lol
