« on: 18 May 2011, 18:42 »
If stainless steel manifold has cracked on the pipe where the four pipes join into one, can this be welded while manifolds in situ on the car, there really isnt much clearance room as its cracked on the side of exhaust nearest the bulk head

cheers

best thing do is take it off so you can get a good weld on it so it will be neat and covered all the area

all depends on how good the weld is and how good the guy is at welding . I had a motor x bike stainless steal exhaust welded when it spilt and it lasted the 12 months i owend the bike and sold it on to a m8 and he had no trouble so its up to you m8 also depends on how much to get it welded and how much it would cost for a new one

Better to take it off and weld it, may not last however.

Why wouldn't it last? If it's welded with the right material by a competent welder, it should be stronger than when it was built originally.
