hi all, sorry to but in, my clutch is quite high and would rather change it before it goes,
my question is, what gaskets, parts, etc...? do i need to order up before i begin?
cheers

You just need a clutch kit really:

http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Golf_1.80_1989/p/car-parts/car-transmission/clutch-and-associated-parts/clutch-kit/?641440450&1&b712425ed5964f0a17f421a5147baec01b8e281c&CLUK

Bit expensive here  shop around, i would go with valeo or LUK, but it depends what you do with your golf, if you tootle, a cheap one wil do
If you were born with a heavy right foot , go for OEM quality

And gear oil if you drain any.

plus its an old car so expect to spend some more  If you spot any worn parts (ball joints etc) the fun of having a mk2

I fitted a techniclutch fast road clutch as it came free with my car as the clutch was fubarred. Heard from other people they're mince but that's on turbo'd jap stuff. Mine is ok, nothing more but then it's only got 139bhp going through it on a good day, dunno if it'd be worth the extra cash tbh.
On a stock engine I would just get a LuK kit as it comes with all the bits you need.
