a host of questiosn 1.8 8v related
« on: 09 May 2011, 21:04 »
hello. Currently in the process of swapping engines in my ryder.

The engine going in is a 1.8 driver.

The questions  have are :

1) I currently have a elec fuel pump and reg in my car, is it worth holding on to and removing mech fuel pump and blocking off with a plate ?

2) are the crankshaft pulleys and alternator the same on the 1.3 mk2 engine to the 1.8 mk2 engine ?

3) Should there be a gasket between the M/S and the servo on a corrado/gti setup (not taking about the o-ring)

4) As it is a corrado M/S and servo im using, do peeps just block the pipe out of the resivour (clutch pipe??) ?

5) Im trying to identify the cam I have in there, and can only come up with a few numbers : L wwo 026 1e  one side, and L (vw badge) 3E the other ??

Im sure there will be more questiosn soon.

Thanks

Not really. Nothing wrong with the 'big block' mechanical pump.

2) are the crankshaft pulleys and alternator the same on the 1.3 mk2 engine to the 1.8 mk2 engine ?

Don't think so - just fit those on the 1.8

3) Should there be a gasket between the M/S and the servo on a corrado/gti setup (not taking about the o-ring)

Yes, it seals for the servo vacuum.

4) As it is a corrado M/S and servo im using, do peeps just block the pipe out of the resivour (clutch pipe??) ?

Get a Golf2 GTI one - no pipe to block.  Doesn't your existing one fit?  They just pull off.

5) Im trying to identify the cam I have in there, and can only come up with a few numbers : L wwo 026 1e  one side, and L (vw badge) 3E the other ??

No idea, but you want a PB head to replace the GU (or whatever it is) head - bigger valves, so more flow.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Keep the fuel pump and reg- even if you don't use it straight away you may want to if the mech 1 packs up/ engine change later on etc etc

diamond hell, so theres more than just the rubber o-ring on the m/s servo ?

And i am aware I want a pb head, but thats not what I have... Im after identifiying a camshaft, not what head to buy.

So the 1.8 crankshaft pulley is model specific ?
