Gearbox had no strange noises, I think it had a gearbox oil change recently. Got a friend popping over to access it anyway, here's hoping it's the linkages.

Temporarily fixed until I get a repair kit. The part that connects to the weight to the right, the end of that there is a hole (spline?) and the teeth had rounded. Also there is some play in selectin gears and this is due to the ball, not sure of it correct name but that part will be included in the repair kit. At least it's driveable for now.

I did indeed, I need this part:

It's a shift lever, part number 1H0711051. Cost a tenner at the stealers and didn't come with the black part attached. The teeth on the spline had worn on mine, now it's all gravy. I now need a relay shaft to stop the play in my gear changes, I don't think I need to get a linkage kit as the gear are solid when selecting now.

Ah good good.

Done mine this afternoon - what a difference!  Agree about the relay shaft, it's definately tightened mine.

I don't reckon I needed the whole kit either really, the dogbones were all decent and the metall ball ends looked ok but who knows, they might have helped.

I took the opportunity to cut an inch off the gear lever and reset the clearance on it and fit a leather gaiter - all very nice.

Fancy a nice alloy golf ball for it now to set it off
