Oil pressure ??
« on: 23 April 2011, 14:51 »
I fitted a 0-10 bar oil pressure sender to a gti 8v engine to operate the pressure vdo but it is always reading low pressure and when the revs drop below about 2000 the idiot light comes on. Could this be because i need a 0-5 bar sender instead of 0-10.

check the ratings on the sender, it should have 1-10 bar and either 0.3 or 1.8bar stasmped on the flats. the 2nd reading tells you which sensor the vdo is supposed to replace. if it is the 0.3bar type then putting it in the head is fine, you just have a pressure problem to the head. i had the same with worn cam bearings
