Ah bu**er, wasn't thinking of doing that, just a full on straight swap. The car is completely stripped at the moment then hopefully having this engine fitted. Is there a problem with fitting the injection system from a Mk2 into a Mk1??? ?Sorry for all the questions but i just wanna make sure that everything is in place, so when i come to re fit everything on the car it goes as quickly and painlessly as possible! Thanks for your help.
Its not just a straight swap over with all the injection system etc. For one thing, the mk2 injection system all goes round to the left (as you look at it) so the inlet manifold, injector pipes, metering unit location........everything is different to the mk1. Exhaust manifold and downpipe are all different. I looked into fitting all the mk2 components, but believe you me, its a lot easier to use the mk1 layout.
Don't let me put you off, it can and has been done. But the quickest and least painful way will be to go down my route. Look in the gallery for some mk2 and mk1 engine layouts and you'll see what I mean about the injection system, manifold etc
