right. i bought a 1600 jetta tx. when i got it the heater bypass valves were broke. so sorted that problem out and sorted out the thermostat, it was stuck open. then for a few days it was sweet. the fun stops there. on my way home from work and the engine overheated, so i pulled over checked it the water pressure was immence. stupidly took off the filler cap (burning my hand). i had blown the head gasket from the cylinder to the closest water channel. did the work needed (head WASNT warped, block was good too) put the car back together and tesed it. same problem. I'm guessing a water cavity has blown somewhere as again i bled up the system and left the water cap off. water just kept bubbling rapidly. so took my nose to it and all i could smell was exhaust fumes.
anyone got any ideas on what has happened? iv been told that these engines are bulletproof so i have no idea.
i should add that when i bought the car the last owner had no anti freeze and it was frozen often on cold morning starts. ( i no my bad but had to get to work)
any help welcome....
thankyou
