Gti is actually really good value in HK, in context that over approx GBP30k UK value you're paying 100% tax. Thus a car costing 45k in the UK works out at over 70k in HK..gulp(!) and this builds. We would have sold a right arm for an RS6 Avant but in HK it costs over 125k and in last 12 months has equated to nearly 140k due to exchange rate!!

However the Gti falls below the big tax  threshold so actually it's pretty much like for like with UK and especially as the HK standard spec is pretty complete. This seems to add even more to the feeling  of real value and that the car is punching well above it's weight which makes owning one a great feeling. No wonder they are very very popular in HK.

Now I understand why your dealer was a bit more receptive than ours in the UK might be.

Interesting price comparisons. I think buying a GTI in Singapore is even more expensive.

Was the Revo re-map de-activated for the warranty work?
