The engine itself isnt more expensive. Its just that its in newer cars which means its more likely do have done less miles and is newer, thus being more expensive.

The Cupra you speak of isnt the 225 "proper" Cupra.

lol yes it is just not the cupra R, mine is a 20vt sport but has the cupra badges! hehe with the AUQ

agu mate, it has a forged bottom end as standard , with a remap and a ko4001 turbo you can achieve 215bhp no problem , the bottom ends are capable of 350bhp

dose that mean the ARZ is forged as well ?   
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

All the engines are excellent in their own ways. Obviously, the later engines have been built with tunability in mind.

In response to danny_p, yes the ARZ has a stronger bottom end. Actually the ARZ isn't a well-known engine by many, but combines the best of both worlds: stronger bottom end and drive-by-wire: the ideal package, in my opinion.

A member from another forum had a ARZ engine with KO4 turbo and Audi S3 injectors, plus other bits to cope with the power, and was achieving 260 bhp no sweat.
