check the hvac module with vagcom you'll probably find the flap motor for the heater blower is faulty

Been to the garage today and everything ponts to the heater matrix.. :cry:Bloke said do a coolant flush and it might clear some sh!t out.Me bruv in law said the heater wasnt working at all then he flushed and it works a bit so i thoughr id try another flush and see if it warms up a bit more. Will give a go next week. The heat only comes out on econ mode which i guess is when the air con is nearly off.Never had climate control before

So did the garage check the error memory of the auto HVAC module?

no he didnt do that fella. He asked what had been replaced and checked heat on the hoses. The hoses going to heater matrix werent both getting hot.I just thought there might be crap in there. The heater does warm up a bit but not to how it should..

it's worth a quick check before you splash out on loads of new parts. There is a motor that drives a flap that directs the warm air, which sits behind the glove box. It is not only one of the most common faults i see on mk4's, but also the one that goes unnoticed for the longest. Checking the engine fault codes won't work you need to find someone with VAG specific tools that can check all the control modules.

Cheers for all the advice.Everything is pointing towards the controller flap behind the glovebox.Might give it a go next week.Does anyone know if it is main dealer part only and wot sort of money im looking .How long should it take to replace.I will probably get a quote from me local as well to see if it is woth the hassle to do myself

Got the car booked in  tomorrow .Checked for codes today and got 4fa 00.When the climate is switched to low and you press the red button you can hear the motor. But only if pressed a couple of times then the motor doesnt make a noise so do you reckon the flap is sticking or motor fault.Dont wanna spend money and its not sorted.Going to a vw specialist who has got all the gear so hope they can get it sorted..Had me hat and scarf and gloves on this morning.
