I've had my MK3 Cabrio for a few months now; it's a 1995 with 92k on the clock.
It's running ok, apart from every so often it will cut out very briefly when on the motorway. Nothing major, just shocks you a little. I've replaced the distributor cap and arm as it was a bit tired.
I also pulled some codes of with vag-com

I'm not too worried about the first two as I can fix those, but I’m interested by the latter Immobilizer one.
It has an aftermarket alarm which I don’t used and is switched off. I tried switching it on but it just shrieked at me, lol
How does the immobilizer work on these?
