buy your battery from your local factors and NOT halfords. they charge about twice a much as everyone else. 

Unless you have a trade card

TBH not sure you can use both together....Had a trade card for a while then I was given the staff discount card as a second card holder by my dad.....

okay my bad yeah kinda mixed some stuff up. im new to working on car so bare with me here. what charges my car battery when the vehicle is running and how do i go about checking to see if it is working/functioning properly?? wanna make sure that working before buying a new battery.
and how do i check if my radiator is working properly??
those are the questions i meant to ask haha. thanks.

i dont see  your radiator affecting your battery? 

do you mean regulator on the alternator? test the alternator output by putting a multimeter across the battery terminals.
set meter to read 20v dc, with engine running at idle the reading should be steady above 14v

Is the car overheating? Temperature gauge should stay roughly in the middle when engine is running and up to temp. If you are overheating then it could be something as simple as a sticking thermostat. Check the coolant level every day or so to see if you are loosing water.

no but in all honesty this is a serious post and obviously i have no idea what im talkin about. but keep in mind before i got my mk2 (which i havnt even had for very long) i never worked on a car or even took the time to learn anything about how they function so when it comes to engines im completely usless. thats why i come on here to learn and not be so useless. my apologies if im wasting your time. just tryin to get imput so i can keep this bloody car on the road.
