Yes did it in my old mk4 about a year ago, its quite easy to run the leads down the back of the seat, they also tuck very nice up the side of the centre console and up into the glovebox for the DVD player. I bought the screens (veba) from ebay for £150, infa-red headphone for £80 and the DVD player also on ebay for £45(came with all leads etc)

The hardest bit is cutting the headrest's. There's a hard plastic behind the foam which needs cutting into for the screen backing plate. Once in place all you do is screw it into the remaining plastic with some 2" screws BUT dont cut too much plastic away to begin with or you wont have any left to screw into and hold the backing plate in place!

To be honest for all the chew it wasnt worth it as the kids maybe watched them half a dozen times. Wouldnt get them again

I'd start with bidding on this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-GOLF-MK4-1-9-TDI-FRONT-HEADRESTS-X2-2002-/150460714307?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2308284d43 assuming of course yours is a black. non-leather interior.

That way, you have spares if you f*ck anything up, or you can take the easier option of sending them to a trimming shop to have it done propfessionally, without having to ride round in a car without head restraints.

It also allows you to return the car to standard (with your original headrests) as and when you sell the motor, if you so desire.

the biggest problem with putting screens in vw headrests is the fact the poles that hold the head rests into the seats are too thin to fit the cables down so you have to cut a hole in the top of the seat for the cables to pass through
i can supply oem style headrests with screens already fitted that overcome this problem

Iv priced a few things up i think i could get all the hardware i need for about £300-350 depending on what standard i go for.

Im a bit of a computer nut so i was wanting to mount a 7" touch screen in the front by my head unit like to the side of it. If anyone has ever seen where the Nokia phone bracket go's on the side by the head unit, that kind of direction i was wanting to mount it. And put a mini pc under the seat or even in the glove box?..if it would fit its quite tight in there lol.

How much are the already fabricated head rests going for?

Cheers everyone.
