had a look at the fuse box today, and mine is missing the air conditioning relay.
would that be why the heater blowers dont work? if so, where can i get a relay
and do i have to get a certain one?
many thanks

Could be a number of reasons, check the fan switch is connected and that it's getting power, also the fan itself may have packed up,this is under the passenger side lower dash tray right up in the left hand corner (as u sit in the car) also check the fuse box and make sure the fuse it ok (do this first)

The aircon relay won't make the fan work and if your car dosnt have aircon then it's not needed hence why u don't have one.

Ive never seen a mk2 with AC ? im sure some exist.
Yeah if your only getting the highest fan speed then it will be the blower resistor. If its not working at all then its either the motor or switch. Dead cheap off fleabay.
Beware of new motors tho on ebay, as i got one and it was no where near "blowy" enough !

The motors dead easy to get out...undo the 5 screws that hold the lower shelf in, three top and one either side. Then unclip the power cable from the motor. The motor unscrews from the housing....DONE
The resistor unclips from the motor housing, then two wires connect up inside
