That's UK Legislation... EU legislation over rides UK legislation and iirc DH has pointed out that EU Leg. says nothing about washers, but it is c@ntish to blind other road users with aftermarket HID's.

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

I had an 04 laguna with these zenons fitted, auto leveling and headlamp washers. When it was new they were brilliant but with 5 years use and 125k put on the clock, the lamp glass became yellow over time and like a dust film on the inside of the glass (plastic) auto leveling system failed ( headlamps pointing too far down) booked it in at the dealer and they manually adjusted them (no more auto levelling!) passed MOT like this. headlamp washers used to empty the washer bottle quicker than you could fill it. seemed pointless to me. and to top it all, dealer swapped a side lamp bulb for me, didnt refit the bulb cover properly, moisture got in and wrecked the zenon transformer! £300 for a new headlamp complete. glad it was a company car LOL. are these worth it to see a bit better :undecided: and you can get really good H4s, also fit the relay mod to the headlamps on you mk2. it makes them a lot brighter  aftermarket HIDs just blind everyone

Ruddy hell, i posted this and forgot about it. Wasnt expecting it to turn into a 4 page post lol. They are 5w sidelights in the driving lamps the reason they look super bright is because of the low lighting and the iphone camera lol. In person they are a lovely dim yellow glow.

£1.80 for two sidelights off ebay, some spare lamps and some bullet connectors :D. If they ever do attract the wrong attention, which i dont think they would, just pop the connectors and their gone :). TBH i thought it was a good idea, lots of cars have them and havent seen it done on here before. I might become a trend setter :D!!!!

Cos they are driving lamps only...

They are not meant to be used as side lights...

and as RJ says they have no regulated light pattern...

Lots of peeps fit HID's to MK2's but they are illegal too... as they don't have washers fitted...

MOT testers dont test the beam pattern projected from the SIDE LIGHT bulbs do they

I don't think a semi will give the same results

I quite like the mod.

Not sure how I missed the thread previously though - there's a lot of people in here spouting shyte.

HIDs need to be behind E-marked glass designed for HID units only - as Jay's said, EU legislation overrides UK laws on this.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

i cant see anything wrong with putting 5w sidelight bulbs in the ceter spots.

really think a 5w bulb is going to dazzel anyone,  don't even matter that the lights wernt desinged for it as when you think about it it's no diffrent to how the sidelights are done in the main headlight  as teh bulb is so small there is no need to shroud it liek the dip beam fillament in a H4
all the VW's have gone bar 1.
