I dont think the ECU will like not having something to operate!
Plus you have the problem of waht do you do with the brake pipes!

Not a good idea at all.

I removed the ABS from my car, was a great big head ache and hard work...
but worth it, was happy with end result

You need to re-plumb all your brake pipes from the master cylinder to each wheel, i got all the pipes and fittings made up at local
car factors

also you need to fit a brake bias valve for the rear brakes some where because its normally controlled by the abs pump,
if you fit a manual adjusting valve, someone told me it cant be inside car within drivers reach for MOT (dont know if this is true)
so i fitted mine under bonnet where the ABS pump was before

yes it will as you have to drain and re-fill the hydrolic fluid.  There is a proceedure to tell the pump what to do with itself while you do this.

You only ever need two tools in life. If it moves and it shouldn't use Duct Tape. If it does not move and it should, use WD40.

From personal experiance, yes it does matter.... I bought one with one letter different, from a car almost identical to mine even the same year, and it didn't work.
Also its a bit fiddley to fit but once you understand it, you can do it pretty fast. (I've had to take my old one off, new one on, new one off, old one back on)
I still don't have a working one...
I'll get round to it eventually.
