Slow response from accelerator
« on: 18 January 2011, 19:53 »
when at low revs my car seems to struggle to accelerate. feels like the fuel isnt getting into the engine when the accelerator is pressed, really laggy

Check for pressure at the fuel rail and check spark/spark plugs/oil first off. If everything seems to be ok then id get a code read done to see if theres any faults stored??

Its an ABS engine. got a code read, and it said permanent fault with distributor something. so i looked at the cap again, the connectors were fried. so replaced that. still has problems though. the rotor arm looks brand new. the spark plugs are all fine. and i have cleaned the throttle body.
where is the fuel rail located and how do I check the pressure?
cheers

its not gonna be the fuel rail pressure if it is only doing it low done it cant be this as they only run 60psi pressure which itll always have

these sorts of problems are usually ignition based - so coil, wires, sparks, dizzy cap & arm.  If that fails I'd be checking CAM sensor condition, crank/cam and ignition timing and then possibly O2 sensor

You only ever need two tools in life. If it moves and it shouldn't use Duct Tape. If it does not move and it should, use WD40.
